The Role

We are currently seeking a motivated, experienced Research Nurse to work closely with Professor Simon Lewis at Macquarie University Health. This is an integral role in which you will actively contribute to clinical and research activities, preparation of relevant reports, undertaking core aspects of clinical and research work, clinical trials and contributing to report writing and data entry.

We are looking for a candidate who brings either a background in clinical research or direct experience working with patients living with Parkinson's disease or other neurodegenerative conditions — or ideally both. This is not an entry-level position; we are seeking nurses with a few years of post-registration experience who are ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced academic health environment.

Your familiarity with either the research environment or this patient population will be essential to your success in this role, ensuring you can engage meaningfully with participants and contribute to research integrity from day one.

In this role, you will also assist in the coordination, management and conduct of clinical and research activities. This includes contributing to the clinical management of outpatients and assisting with the coordination of our Research Clinic and clinical trials. Candidates who bring hands-on experience with neurodegenerative conditions — particularly Parkinson's disease and related conditions — and who understand the unique challenges these patients face in a research context will be highly regarded.

With a starting date in May, join us in providing exceptional research work and advancing your career in a supportive, growth-focused environment!

To Apply

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your resume:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of a few years post-registration nursing experience — this is not an entry-level role and candidates should be able to demonstrate a solid foundation of clinical practice
  • Demonstrated research experience within a clinical research and/or clinical trials setting, and/or prior clinical experience with patients living with Parkinson's disease, other movement disorders, or related neurodegenerative conditions — candidates must be able to demonstrate at least one of these, and those with both will be strongly preferred
  • A genuine interest in and commitment to advancing outcomes for people living with neurodegenerative conditions through high-quality research
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and in critical incidents
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking
  • Demonstrated awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy, and information handling
